What Is PVCGA?

Pre-Vet Camp Global Academy is an intensive, dynamic five-day veterinary studies program focused on small companion animals, large animals, equine, livestock, and exotic animals. PVCGA provides a collaborative and experiential approach to learning. Students can use time spent at PVCGA on their academic résumé and college applications for veterinary schools.
(Vet schools recommend approximately 1,200 hours of practical and clinical experience working with a veterinarian when applying.)

What does the curriculum consist of?

PVCGA offers a full curriculum of academics and hands-on workshops focusing on the anatomy, physiology, health, and care of animals— perfect for the student considering becoming a veterinarian or working in the veterinary field. PVCGA mentors offer valuable, exclusive behind-the-scenes insight and discuss how young people can work with animals and what it takes to become a veterinarian.

Is there an exclusive off-site workshop included?

Yes! Students benefit from exposure to outstanding PVCGA Exclusive Workshops, such as the field trip to the University of California, Davis, CA, ranked #1 in Veterinary Medicine by U.S. News & World Report.
(Professional chartered buses are employed to transport students to and from off-site seminars.) 

What are resident accommodations like?

Students reside overnight in the newly renovated bunkhouse at Vaquera Ranch, Penn Valley, CA. Students enjoy exploring a delicious variety of culinary options (dietary preferences accommodated). Resident Program Assistants provide guidance, lead social activities, and enforce program policies. Three meals per day, as well as dessert and accommodations, are included in the tuition cost.

Do I need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow?

Yes.

Are day camp options available?

Commuter day camp options are available upon request.

Are additional extracurricular activities offered?

Yes! Horse trail riding and archery are offered for an additional fee. Book and pay directly with Vaquera Ranch.

Is swimming offered?

Swimming is not permitted. However, you may fish off the dock on Vaquera Ranch Lake.

Can I use the hours spent at Pre-Vet Camp Global on my curriculum vitae (CV) academic resume when applying to vet school?

Yes! Students can use their hours spent at PVCGA on their curriculum vitae (CV) academic resume and college applications for veterinary schools. (Vet schools recommend approximately 1,200 hours of practical and clinical experience working with a veterinarian when applying.) Pre-Vet Camp Global Academy veterinarians and mentors will provide letters of recommendation in support of PVCGA alumni upon request.

How many students will be admitted each year?

Space is limited to 30 students per cohort each year.

Is there a discount available?

Yes! Sibling and friend discounts are offered when enrolling together; each student receives a $150 discount.

Is there a referral fee available?

Yes! A $100 referral fee is available if you refer a friend who registers and mentions they heard about the program from you.

Is the PVCGA Retreat different each year?

Yes! Ongoing curricular evaluation and modification have produced a balanced teaching program. Students often return year after year as the program incorporates new mentors, content, and activities.

Cancellation Policy: Is tuition refundable?

Tuition is refundable before the start of the program, minus a $550 processing fee. The program is non-refundable once started.

Covid-19 Policy: What is the Covid-19 Policy?

Students must perform a rapid Covid-19 test 24 hrs. or less before arrival and produce a negative result. Students must bring two rapid Covid-19 tests to camp to use if needed. If a student is not feeling well, they will be safely and comfortably quarantined from other students. If the student has a positive rapid Covid-19 test result, a guardian must pick up the student within 24 hrs.
