Borges Ranch is the former ranch of early Walnut Creek pioneer Frank Borges who built a home
and ranched cattle in the 1890s. The ranch is now the home base for Walnut Creek’s 1,035-acre Shell
Ridge Open Space and serves as a visitor center, ranger station, and ranger residence. The historic
ranch district includes a barn, blacksmith shop, numerous outbuildings, farm equipment displays,
and the old Borges Family home.

Ranch, in Walnut Creek near Heather Farm Park. From Ygnacio Valley Road and San Carlos, at
Heather Farm Park, San Carlos winds through the park to the front door of Seven Hills School.

offers its clients the highest level of care for their equine and livestock animals. Led by board certified
veterinary specialists, the Large Animal Clinic sees thousands of patients a year, and
provides services at the clinic and at ranches and farms.

Sherman Ranch, Breeders of Champion Arabians (workshop destination)

Sherman Ranch, a 200-acre ranch in the beautiful Tassajara Valley, has been breeding champion
Arabians since 1975. At Sherman Ranch, students will meet Jill Sherman, breeder of champion
Arabians, and take a tour of this magnificent ranch. They will meet seven newborn Arabians foals of
champion bloodlines, rescue donkeys, and prized stallions and broodmares in the Sherman Ranch
breeding program.
During our BAE Vet Camp visit to Sherman Ranch in Pleasanton, Nick will talk about his life as a saddle bronc rider and
what it’s like to break colts. We’re hoping he’ll even demonstrate breaking a colt.
